This website is intended to be a resource for those who do not want to live in a
"pre-packaged lifestyle" but are interested in doing things themselves for their
basic and not so basic needs, rather than relying on corporate/governmental
sources.

What is Self Sufficiency?
It's independence! It means being reliant upon one's self; having trust in one's own
powers, abilities and judgment. It means not being dependant on commercially
produced foods that are full of preservatives and additives and manufactured products
of poor quality materials and poor craftsmanship. It does not mean you have to move
into the woods and live off the land (unless you really want to).
Our society has become dependent on the "pre-made", "quick", and "convenient". In
doing so we have become accustomed to, if not dependant on, preservatives,
additives and poor nutrition in our foods, high in salt and fats. Half the time we can't
even pronounce what they put in our foods and are they really necessary? We compete
with each other for materialistic belongings purchased from major stores that drain
our pocketbooks and don’t bring us happiness.
Are you self sufficient?
You probably don't realize it but I bet you are or have been. Ever make a homemade
gift? Do you have a hobby making things out of wood? Maybe you make candles or
soap. You are being independent and self sufficient and you probably didn't even
realize it. Maybe you just thought you were being thrifty and crafty but that is what being
self sufficient is all about.
Once you have the information, tools and know-how, you can be self-sufficient and
reduce your dependence on industry. "Today's Self Sufficiency Food & Resource
Book" can help you take control of your life again. From Worcestershire Sauce to
windshield wiper fluid with "Today's Self Sufficiency Food & Resource Book " you know
what you are putting into your body and into those that you love. You control the
chemicals you and your family are exposed to. Beauty products, household products,
cleaners, etc. You can make these too. You don't have to be dictated by what you are
told by the manufacturers to buy, by government or by society. This is your life and your
body, know what you put into them and believe in yourself. You too can be self
sufficient.
To what degree of self-sufficiency you choose for you is up to you. You don't have to
move into the country, butcher your own meat and live off the land. You could have a
garden in your backyard or a container garden on your apartment porch and grow
tomatoes! This is a form of self-sufficiency because you didn't have to depend on the
store for the tomatoes and you provided for yourself. And the pride you find in doing for
yourself is unmeasurable.
If you ran out of an ingredient while cooking and the store was closed, you wouldn't
hesitate to substitute an item in your recipe, but why substitute? Why not just make
what you ran out of. You can probably find the recipe or directions for it in "Today's Self
Sufficiency Food & Resource Book".
Being self sufficient does take some planning and a little time to make and store what
you make but the benefits to your health and to the quality of your life is so much more
worth the effort.
You are responsible for the quality of your own life, and you too can become self-
